WENDELL, Idaho (KLIX) – Fire crews are still mopping up a fire that started Monday evening about 3 miles north of Wendell.

Kelsey Brizendine, a Bureau of Land Management spokeswoman, said crews contained the fire about 11 p.m. Monday, and they expect to have it controlled by about 8 p.m. today.

“They’re continuing to mop up some hot spots, improve containment lines and will monitor it throughout the heat of the day,” she said.

The acreage burned hasn’t been mapped yet, Brizendine said, but it is estimated that the human-caused blaze has burned about 200 acres.
