Carrie Underwood, Hunter Hayes + More Rap the ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ Theme Song! [Watch]
The country superstar was one of several stars approached by Mashable to try to rap the theme song to the beloved TV show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which ran from 1990-1996 and provided a breakout starring role for Will Smith. Astonishingly, Underwood rapped her parts from memory.
Hunter Hayes demonstrated his unrealized potential as a human beatbox, while Sara Evans gamely gave it a shot while reading the lyrics. The guys in Parmalee rapped in unison, while Luke Bryan — who's no stranger to rap influences in his own music — tripped over the lyrics before blaming it on alcohol, joking, "I have had a shot of whiskey."
Frankie Ballard had a lyric sheet in hand, but it didn't look like he needed it much, while not surprisingly, the Florida Georgia Line guys seemed right at home with rapping. Hayes had the beat down, but finally gave up on the lyrics, quipping, "I'm gonna go play a guitar now!"
But Underwood was the real winner, delivering her parts without prompting with absolutely no problem — which kinda makes you wonder if she might have spent a lot of time in front of the tube as a kid.
Underwood was the night's big winner in another way; she took home Video of the Year honors for her clip for "Something in the Water."
