Country Stars Give a Thumbs Up for Kentucky Boy With Rare Cancer

Country stars like Jake Owen, Chris Young, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Josh Turner, Lee Brice, Brantley Gilbert (and many more) are giving a thumbs up for Lane Goodwin, a 13-year-old boy from McLean County, Kentucky, who was diagnosed with cancer for the third time in his young life. The simple gesture has gone viral, as more and more people — famous and beyond — show their support for a little boy fighting for his life.

The Prayers for Lane Goodwin Facebook page has been inundated with images of people giving the universal symbol for ‘I’m good’ — the thumbs up. It demonstrates the power of social media, and that a little can go a long way when a young child is faced with a deadly disease. A small measure of good will, such as the thumbs up sign, can do a lot to lift little Lane’s spirits and make him feel surrounded by love and strength during a difficult time.

Lane was first diagnosed with Stage IV Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma in 2010. It’s a rare and aggressive form of the disease that affects only 1 in a million children. Lane underwent 41 weeks of chemotherapy upon his initial diagnosis, but relapsed in July of 2011 and in May of this year.

Send your prayers and your thumbs up to Lane at his page. If country superstars can show their support, so can you!
