Comic-Con 2013: ‘Flash’ and ‘Justice League’ Movies On the Way from Warner Bros.

Man of Steel Justice League

Following big news from sources that say Warner Bros. is announcing a Batman and Superman crossover movie at their Comic-Con panel this afternoon, comes word that the studio is also forging ahead with ‘Flash’ and ‘Justice League‘ movies, tentatively scheduled for 2016 and 2017, respectively.

We’ll have all the details from the Warner Bros. panel this afternoon, but it looks like news already flooding out in anticipation of the panel. The latest news, from THR, is that WB is ready to get on Marvel’s level and start pushing out more superhero movies — specifically a ‘Flash’ movie, eyed for a 2016 release, and the long-rumored ‘Justice League’ movie, which has notoriously struggled to find its way to production and is (tentatively) slated for 2017.

Both of these follow word of a Superman and Batman crossover movie, which is said to be Zack Snyder‘s follow-up to ‘Man of Steel,’ with Henry Cavill returning as Superman, but no word yet — and probably not for some time — on who will replace Christian Bale as WB’s caped crusader.

David Goyer, who co-wrote ‘Man of Steel,’ previously wrote a ‘Flash’ script for Warner Bros., but the studio wasn’t quite pleased with it and the flick was shelved. Goyer has also mentioned in interviews that Superman might be the impetus for the awakening of other superheroes, noting in an Indiewire interview, “There might be people helping people, but not in costumes, and that Superman comes forward and announces himself to the world. In him announcing himself, he’s the one that changes things.”

We’ll hopefully have more details for you later today when we report on the Warner Bros. panel.
