From Mountain Home to Boise, the United States Air Force is trying to get the word out about possibly bringing in a fleet of F-35 fighter jets to Gowen Field or to Mountain Home Air Force Base. The second of three public informational meetings was held Wednesday night in Boise.  Col. Bruce Smith with Mountain Home Air Force Base says noise is the obvious concern among some residents but Smith says the sound won’t have an impact in Mountain Home.  He says the noise, compared to what is already present at  Mt. Home  would be imperceptible.  No more than two decibels abound the Mountain Home area and Smith says there will be no residential areas affected by that.  Col. Smith says if Mountain Home is selected, it could have a huge economic effect on the community.  The last public meeting will be held Thursday afternoon at Mountain Home Junior High School starting at 5:00 p.m.
