MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) — A Whitman County man who said he led police on a high-speed chase because he wanted to test their driving abilities is heading to jail.

The Moscow-Pullman Daily News reports that Brian Allery was sentenced Friday to six months in jail. He received three months for a felony eluding charge related to the March 26 incident and three months for failing to pay court costs associated with a 2013 identity theft conviction.

Prosecutors say Allery failed to stop when an officer pulled him over in southern Idaho and then led deputies on a chase. The pursuit ended after a half-hour when Allery turned onto a dead-end street. Allery said in court Friday he was sorry for his "childish" behavior and now realizes he had put people in danger.
