Clay Walker Announces 2012 Chords of Hope Benefit Concert

Clay Walker will be hosting his third annual Chords of Hope benefit concert for multiple sclerosis on June 5 at Nashville’s 3rd and Lindsley. Walker was diagnosed with relapsing-remitting MS in 1996 and has gone to great lengths since then to raise money to benefit others living with the autoimmune disease. The charity he formed, called Band Against MS (BAMS) strives to raise awareness and education about MS while also raising money to fund research that’s working toward a cure.

Each year for the past three years, the country star has hosted Chords of Hope, the proceeds of which help fund Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s MS research. For this year’s benefit, Walker will be performing with Jerrod Niemann, Sarah Marince and Hal Ketchum, who are all teaming up for the cause.

Having already raised more than $2 million through BAMS, Walker has made great strides in his effort to combat MS personally and on behalf of others. Speaking before last year’s show, the hitmaker said, “This concert is truly a marriage between two important aspects of my life — music and raising awareness for MS.”

Walker also made the news recently with his appearance in episode four of this season’s romantic reality show ‘The Bachelor.’ Bachelor Ben Flajnik and date of the night Jennifer slow danced to the love-inspiring new single ‘Like We Never Said Goodbye‘ to put an end to their day-long date.
