(KLIX)- The Twin Falls City budget is getting closer to adoption. Monday night city  council voted to set the preliminary budget at roughly  $50.2 million dollars. City staff recommended a budget of about $49.2 million dollars. The council decided to add on another million dollars of what is called foregone amount.  The council may not necessarily use that extra million, but it gives them a little extra money to work with if they choose to. Councilman Don Hall is the only member that voted no, saying he didn’t think it was necessary to add the extra million. Mayo Greg Lanting said he would vote for the motion to add the extra funding but admitted it may not be used. The council asked the city manager and staff to come up with ideas the extra million dollars could be spent. The council also voted on setting the public hearing for August 20 to let citizens comment on the budget.
