It is the fourth consecutive year the city has been given the award, said City Manager Travis Rothweiler, who presented the award to Chief Finance Officer Lori Race and her team.

The award, given by the Government Finance Officers Association, recognizes the city’s effort to be “very transparent,” Rothweiler told the council, noting it is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

The city was notified by the GFOA in March that it had won the award.

The council also approved the appointment of three Traffic Safety Commission members: Brenda Hughes, who will represent the Twin Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, and two at-large members, John Kaperlis and Ken Weismore Sr., as well as the re-appointment of Brady Dickinson, who will continue to represent the Twin Falls School District.

The Traffic Safety Commission is required to have seven voting members, each who have to be appointed and by the mayor and approved by the council.
