TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – Members of the Twin Falls City Council on Monday toured two buildings that, once completed, will be part of city administration and law enforcement for years to come.

The future City Hall and public safety buildings are well underway and on schedule for completion this year. At the public safety offices, administration will move into the former City Hall near Third Avenue East between March 3 and 6, said Starr Corp. Project Manager Jason Derricott.

“There will be a bit of a transition period,” he said, noting that administration will share the building with patrol officers until work on their building is finished later this year.

The future City Hall, located at the corner of Hansen Street East and Main Avenue East, is on track to be finished in early October, he said.

On Monday, construction workers, donned in work boots and hard hats, kept busy at the site while Derricott led council members on a tour of the nearly 50,000 square-foot building.

Once complete, the building will welcome visitors with a modern lobby whose main floor will house departments accessed more frequently by the general public. The mezzanine will be expanded to a full second floor and include construction services departments such as engineering and planning and zoning. The third floor will house the economic development, human resources, finances and IT departments.

And, city staff has said, there’s enough space to grow. Only about 32,000 square feet of the building will be used to begin with, staff has said.

Council members toured the buildings Monday afternoon before resuming their regularly scheduled council meeting that evening.
