How did a small town eastern Utah boy who grew up roping, riding, and working hard end up as the opening act for today’s biggest country stars? Charley Jenkins says it’s because he was born country. He also got good advice and examples from some of those stars during the years he spent in Nashville.

Jenkins, who will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 6th in the College of Southern Idaho Fine Arts Auditorium, had already recorded his first album, ‘Greatest Hours,’ before he moved to Nashville in 2001. He also began opening concerts for LeAnn Rimes, Lonestar, Montgomery Gentry, Kellie Pickler, Josh Turner, Taylor Swift, and others. In 2008, he was one of 12 finalists on NBC’s Nashville Star program.
