Changes Coming for Idaho’s “Go On” Campaign

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Changes are being considered in an effort launched five years ago to encourage more Idaho high school students into postsecondary education.

The J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation launched the effort called "Go On" and backed it with $11 million in scholarships and grants of up to $40,000 each to a handful of mostly small rural middle and high schools. But Foundation President Jamie MacMillan tells the Idaho Statesman that results haven't been positive.

When the campaign started in 2009, Idaho ranked 43rd in the nation in its share of students who go on to postsecondary education. Five years later, the state is in last place. So this summer, the foundation will crunch data, revisit programs and analyze market studies to see how it can improve its initiative.
