Movie Popcorn Butter Linked to Alzheimer’s

What is your snack of choice at the movie theater? Please don’t say popcorn. It is? It’s popcorn? Ok, well, you certainly don’t ask the concession stand employees to douse your corn with gallons of artificial butter spray, right? Oh, you do? Well, you might want to read on. We apologize in advance.

The Annual Perseid Meteor Shower Peaks This Weekend

One of my favorite astronomical events happens this weekend: the Perseid Meteor Shower. It's one of those cool events that you can see with the unaided eye, and nearly everyone will be able to see a shooting star or two with enough time and patience.

The Annual Perseid Meteor Shower streaks across the nighttime sky August 12th peaking early Sunday morning. These fast and bright meteors are the result of the Earth passing through the debris left behind by the Swift-Tuttle comet.

It truly is one of the best annual meteor showers, but first time viewers could be disappointed. Here are a few tips to improve your Perseid Meteor Shower viewing.

Mars Curiosity Photographed By 2nd NASA Spacecraft

NASA's Mars Curiosity rover made touchdown on the red planet last night utilizing an incredible Rube Goldberg landing system that included a parachute, retro-rockets, and a sky crane. Amazingly, it all worked perfectly and Curiosity is now telemetry and images back to Earth.

But it's an image from another NASA spacecraft that has taken our breath away today.

Will Poppy Seeds Make You Fail A Drug Test?

One of the Business Managers was nice enough to bring in muffins today. As everyone grabbed one of the tasty treats, they uttered the same thing: "uh oh, poppy seeds. Better hope there's no random drug test today."

Really? Will eating Poppy Seeds make you fail a drug test?

One of the Largest Asteroid Impact Craters in the World is in Idaho

If you follow NASA's JPL Asteroid Watch Twitter feed, you already know that asteroids whizz past our little blue planet on a pretty regular basis. Luckily a 6 mile wide monster--like the one that wiped out the dinosaurs--doesn't come along very often, but asteroids do hit Earth. All the time.

And scientists have discovered one of the largest craters in the United States is right here in Idaho.

Today is ‘World UFO Day’ – Do You Believe?

Aliens scare me. Not the black, bitey, acid-blooded ones from the 'Alien' films, but the ones reported to be 'real' aliens: small, gray, with big heads, and big, black, almond shaped eyes. You know, the aliens that abduct Travis Walton and Whitley Strieber... the ones that can come into your home in the middle of the night and there's absolutely nothing you can do to stop them.

Hot Twin Falls Sunshine: Let’s Cook Solar Hotdogs

Summer has arrived and brought with it an abundance of sunshine. My son Jack and I decided to put the sun to good use and make our own solar cooker to roast up some hotdogs. It was an easy and fun project, and only called for Jack to be patient long enough for the hotdog to cook, which is hard for a three year old.

The Venus Transit Will Be The Most Spectacular Thing You Probably Won’t See Today

Today (June 5th) marks a once-in-a-lifetime astronomical event as the planet Venus transits across the face of the sun in perfect alignment for viewing on Earth. It hasn't been seen here since 1882, and won't occur again until 2117.

It's one of the rarest predictable astronomical events, and will likely be obscured as storms move through the area.
