Super Glue Inventor Harry Wesley Coover Jr. Dead at 94

Super Glue inventor Harry Wesley Coover Jr. died Saturday night of congestive heart failure at his home in Kingsport, TN, the NY Times is reporting. He was 94.

Though he held over 460 patents in his career, Coover was best known for his revolutionary invention, which he created accidentally while testing compounds at Eastman Codak's Tennessee laboratory in 1951. Seven years after the accident, during which Coover ruined a $3,000 machine, the first version of Super Glue (called Eastman 910) was made available.

Space Shuttle Discovery Launched at 4:50PM ET today

I was talking to a friend at work today about the shuttle launch.  We were reminiscing about previous launches and how this will be one of the final shuttle missions before the entire program is scrubbed.  I'm hopeful that while there's not much more to do with the current program and that taxpayer money is perhaps better spent elsewhere right now, I have to think that space exploration is 'soon' headed beyond the capabilities of current shuttles.  Mars anyone?  Read more to watch live streaming video from spaceflightnow at livestream.com

A bunch of bones that were found in Utah in the 90s have turned out to be a previously unknown dinosaur species. Scientists have named this new discovery the Brontomerus, which means "thunder thighs."
