Education Reform Group Hires Consultant

(AP) – A group working to overturn Idaho’s new education reforms has hired an out-of-state consultant who last November helped repeal a hotly debated Ohio law limiting collective bargaining.  David Williams is working on the Idaho campaign aimed at repealing laws that restrict teacher bargaining and require students to take online courses.

$6-million Go Unclaimed From Idaho Lottery Tickets

Over the last two years in Idaho about $6 million go unclaimed from lottery tickets according to Idaho Lottery spokesman David Workman.  That total comes from scratch tickets and all the different games where the balls drop. In fiscal year 2010 nearly $3.7 million worth of prizes went unclaimed.  In 2011 the total was almost $2.3 million.

Chobani Yogurt Gets National Award

. (AP) – Upstate New York-based Greek yogurt maker Chobani Inc. has been named the national winner of a federal entrepreneurship award. The U.S. Small Business Administration says Tuesday the  company is being honored for its fast growth in sales and employment across the country and overseas.

TF City Council Selection Pared To Four

The whirlwind selection process in finding a person to replace former Twin Falls City Councilman Lance Clow should be coming to an end by next Monday.  Last night the city council selection committee listened to eleven candidates give three minute speeches as to why they wanted to be on the council.

Rogerson Toddler Found Safe

Twin Falls County Sheriff’s deputies and search and rescue crews found a 2-year-old boy from Rogerson wandering two miles from his home up in the hills.  Lori Stewart with the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office says the call came in around 4 p.m. when his mom noticed he wasn’t playing in the yard anymore with his siblings.

Sgt. Workman To Be Buried In Rupert Friday

The body of an Idaho soldier returned home Monday. Sgt. Chris Workman, whose family lives in Rupert, died in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan. Workman’s body was transferred to his family during a private honorable transfer ceremony at Boise’s Gowen Field Monday afternoon.

13 Twin Falls Residents Want To Be On City Council

Thirteen Twin Falls City Council hopefuls will have three minutes tonight to convince the City Council members that they should be the one chosen to fill a vacant seat on the council.  Last week Twin Falls City Councilman Lance Clow announced he would be stepping down from the council after a nearly 19 year stint to pursue other endeavors.  Mayor Greg Lanting announced at the time that anyone interested in filling Clow’s seat on the council should submit a resume and letter of interest by 5 p.m. April 30th.
