Can You Identify This Grass That’s Invading My Lawn?

I had this funky looking grass show up in my yard late last summer. At first it was a little patch.  Now, it's taken over a 3x4 foot area of my lawn and it's growing. Can you help me identify it and tell me how to get rid of it?

My neighbors across the street are retired and have lawns that would put any golf course to shame.  I do what I can to do my part to keep the neighborhood looking nice. I water, edge, mow, fertilize, weed... etc. And I don't expect to keep up with retired folks who's only mission in life is to have immaculate grass but this patch it looking pretty clapped out. Any help here would be hot.
