CAREY, Idaho (KLIX)- Officials have closed off a drinking water well at a campground near Carey for safety concerns.

According to the Bureau of Reclamation the closed well is at the Little Wood Campground, 11 miles northeast of State Highway 93 near Carey. The water well is routinely tested and a recent testing tested positive for coliform bacteria.

“Public safety is our primary concern,” said Ryan Newman, manager of the Upper Snake Field Office. “We are working to assure all health concerns are addressed in a timely manner.”

If you plan on camping at the little Wood Campground take plenty of drinking water. Reclamation officials say there is not any other source than the closed well for drinking water.

Little Wood Campground offers camping, fishing, and boating year round at no cost on a first come, first serve basis.
