There are a few things that will probably run through your head while you watch the 'Camp X-Ray' trailer. First, you'll think, "Whoa, this looks really good, and it's about time more filmmakers started to take a serious look at the past decade of American international affairs." Then you'll think, "Man, Kristen Stewart really wants us to forget about those 'Twilight' movies."

But in all seriousness, movies like this are the best way for Stewart to remind us that she is actually a terrific actress who happened to get wrapped in one of the worst things to happen to American pop culture. 'Camp X-Ray' casts Stewart as a guard at the infamous Guantanamo Bay prison who strikes up a friendship with one of its detainees, only to see her whole world come crashing down. The film received positive notice at the Sundance Film Festival, and if the movie is anything like the trailer, it's easy to see why.

Here's the official synopsis:

A young woman joins the military to be part of something bigger than herself and her small town roots. But she ends up as a new guard at Guantanamo Bay instead, where her mission is far from black and white. Surrounded by hostile jihadists and aggressive squadmates, she strikes up an unusual friendship with one of the detainees. A story of two people, on opposite sides of a war, struggling to find their way through the ethical quagmire of Guantanamo Bay. And in the process, they form an unlikely bond that changes them both.

'Camp X-Ray' will arrive in theaters this October 17.
