Burley Man Sentenced for Injury to Child

Rupert, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - A three month investigation by the Rupert Police department has led to the sentencing of a Burley man.

On Tuesday, Mikal J. Christensen, 20 was sentenced to five years for Injury to a child. Judge Jonathan Brody sentenced Christensen to 2 years determinate and 3 in-determinate and then suspended the sentence, retaining jurisdiction. In addition Christensen was also sentenced for the 25 days of time served for possession of a controlled substance, marijuana.

On October 23, 2014, police arrested Christensen on charges of Enticing a Child Over the Internet, Dissemination of Hazardous Material to a minor and Possession with the intent to deliver illegal narcotics. Those charges were then amended to one count of injury to a child and possession of a controlled substance.
