BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Former Canyon County prosecutor and gubernatorial candidate John Bujak has resigned from the Idaho State Bar, effectively ending his ability to practice law in Idaho.

Bujak announced his resignation Thursday. The move comes as the state bar was seeking to have him disbarred on ethical grounds earlier this summer. His resignation agreement only stops him from practicing law in the state for four years. He would have to reapply at the end of that term. Bujak resigned as county prosecutor in 2010 after being accused of embezzling from Canyon County and was eventually found not guilty.

He was acquitted again in 2014 of other charges including bankruptcy fraud and money laundering. Bujak has been practicing law in Eagle since his license was restored in August.
