Buhl, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - A Buhl man gave the Alford plea Monday in District court to two Aggravated Assault charges on a Law Enforcement Officer with one of the charges containing a Weapons Enhancement.

40 year old Victor Soria-Navarrete was charged with the shooting in July of 2014 at a residence in Buhl. He was later captured in Utah and brought back to Twin Falls to face the charges. The shooting took place at 49 Manor Drive in Buhl last Tuesday the 22nd. A Buhl Police Officer and a Twin Falls County Deputy responded to a report of a domestic dispute.

That’s when someone inside began firing at the officers with an assault rifle-style weapon. Buhl Police Officer Benny Torres was pierced by an object in his back side during the incident. During the pre-trial Monday Soria-Navarrete made his Alford plea and now will be sentenced on March 19th at 9:30 am in District Court. He faces 25 years maximum in prison.
