BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Boise State coach Chris Petersen says he expects quarterback Joe Southwick to practice all week and start in Saturday's season finale. Southwick has compiled a 16-4 record as the Broncos starter the last two seasons.

But he's missed four games recovering from a broken ankle suffered on the opening drive against Nevada on Oct. 19. Grant Hedrick has filled in, leading the Broncos to three victories, but Hedrick has struggled with turnovers and moving the offense consistently, especially in losses to BYU and San Diego State.

Barring any physical setbacks, Petersen says both quarterbacks will play Saturday against New Mexico (3-8, 1-6 Mountain West Conference). The Broncos (7-4, 5-2) need a Utah State loss and victory over the Lobos to win the Mountain Division and play in the conference title game.
