Bazillions of guns! Booming explosions! Cackling lunatics! The launch trailer for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel highlights the return of everything fans of the series have come to know and love.

As one of four new vault hunters (okay, I guess three "new" vault hunters since one of them is the series mascot, Claptrap), you'll get your arse to the moon in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Based on what we've seen so far, B:PS seems to be a refinement of the series rather than a re-imagining, focusing mostly on the core Borderlands loot 'n shoot experience rather than potentially weighing things down by moving away from what players love. There are some new weapon types- Ice and Laser- as well as a few new wrinkles to the gameplay, such as the low gravity of the moon allowing for some Michael Jordan-esque leaps, but mostly this seems to be a game about shooting faces and getting treasure.

As always, you can expect this to be a rock 'em sock 'em good time for you and a group of friends, one more than willing to poke fun at itself and everything around it (Moon wizards, anyone?)

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel arrives Oct. 14 on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
