BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A Boise man authorities say was texting while driving and also violating his probation by using meth is being held without bond following a crash that killed a man out for a walk.

KTVB-TV reports that a judge on Monday ordered Tyler C. Martinez to be held without bond until his preliminary hearing on April 20.

Authorities say Martinez on Friday crossed the center line and drove off the road near the Boise Airport, striking and killing 64-year-old Joel Eggers, the chief starter at Firebird Raceway.

Martinez was arrested at the scene and is being held at the Ada County Jail on a probation agent's warrant.

No charges have been filed involving the crash.
