BOISE -- An early-morning fight ended with one man getting shocked with a Taser and hauled off to jail, Boise police say.

Officers on patrol near Main Street and 6th Street in downtown Boise spotted a group of men fighting at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday.

One of the men took off running, but the officers quickly caught up to him. As they did, another man, identified as 22-year-old Fernando Jesus Juarez of Nampa, intervened, shoving one of the officers to the ground.

Police say Juarez continued to fight with officers, even after they warned several times that they would shoot him with a Taser if he did not stop. Finally, officers deployed the Taser and took Juarez into custody.

Ada County Paramedics were called in to check on the suspect before he was taken to jail. Juarez faces a felony charge of battery on an officer and misdemeanor charges of public intoxication and resisting and obstructing. He is due to appear in court Monday afternoon.
