BOISE, Idaho (KTVB) - Amid a huge outpouring of support for a Boise 5-year-old who was hit by a van while riding his bike last week, a family friend says Maximo Wyatt is healing, slowly but surely.

He has a long road ahead - but he's putting up a strong fight. A family friend on Monday said Max is recovering, and that doctors are very happy with his slow, consistent progress. A Go Fund Me page  that was set up for Max last week has raised about $70,000. The family friends who set it up say all that money will help with medical expenses.

Max is being treated at a hospital in Salt Lake City, and his parents are with him. Police said Max was hit by a minivan while riding his bike last Wednesday. He's still listed in critical condition, but again, family and friends say he's making progress after several surgeries. The Go Fund Me page says Max suffered a collapsed lung, broken pelvis and broken left leg, among other injuries.
