WEST JORDAN, Utah (AP) — A small plane crashed on a soccer field in the Salt Lake City suburb of West Jordan, injuring all three members of an Idaho family aboard.

Police say the plane crashed shortly after takeoff from an airport Sunday morning, and three Good Samaritans pulled the people out of the aircraft before it burst into flames. The pilot, his wife and their adult daughter, all from Boise, Idaho, were taken to the hospital. Their names weren't immediately released.

Police say the pilot was listed in critical condition, while the conditions of the other two weren't available. Witness Robert Kelley told the Deseret News he immediately knew the plane was in trouble because it failed to gain altitude. The crash of the Piper PA-32 is under investigation by federal authorities.
