Body Pulled From Lake Coeur d’Alene

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — Authorities in northern Idaho have recovered the body of a Washington state man from Lake Coeur d'Alene.

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office says the body of 63-year-old Thomas M. Fritz of Spokane was found Monday afternoon in 35 feet of water entangled in downrigger fishing lines extending from his boat. Deputies responded at about 1 p.m. after receiving a report that an unoccupied boat was going around in circles near the southern end of Lake Coeur d'Alene. Sheriff's divers investigated and discovered Fritz's body.

Authorities say results from an autopsy and toxicology tests won't be available for several weeks. The Spokesman-Review reports that Fritz is the former CEO of Inland Northwest Health Services. He retired in December after leading the nonprofit for 16 years.
