RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) — Authorities say a skeleton found near Riverton on the Wind River Indian Reservation is that of a 47-year-old man who was reported missing in 2006.

Fremont County Coroner Ed McAuslan tells The Riverton Ranger that Tad P. Barnson's remains were found March 10, and his death has been ruled a homicide due to blunt-force and penetrating trauma. McAuslan says the autopsy showed multiple wounds, but he didn't know what kind of weapon may have been used in the attack.

Barnson's mother, LaRita Barnson, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, says her son called home shortly before his death and told her he was in trouble and wouldn't be able to contact her for some time. She says he told her he would take care of the situation himself, but she never heard from him again.
