RUPERT, Idaho (AP) — Law enforcement officers in Rupert say human remains found in the City of Rocks National Reserve last fall are those of Rupert resident Norine Boyd, who was reported missing in late 1988. Police Chief James Wardle said Tuesday DNA analysis performed at a Texas lab confirmed the women's identity.

Boyd's family has been notified. The remains were found in October 2012 by Detective Sgt. Jeff McEwen and reserve officer and criminal analyst Diane Gines with the assistance of a cadaver dog. They were pursuing information about Boyd's disappearance when the discovery was made. Boyd disappeared shortly before Christmas in 1988. Her death remains under investigation.
