The following information is provided by the Bureau of Land Management fire information service.

SHOSHONE, Id. ---   Twin Falls BLM crews,Wendell, Buhl and Hagerman Fire Departments, responded to five wildfires south of Hagerman yesterday evening. The 12 engine crews, Rural Fire Departments, and  air support from two Single Engine Air Tankers, and Air Attack were able to slow the progression of all five fires.

The Snake fire, on the south side of the Snake River, near Hagerman was mapped at 19.8 acres, and was contained at 9:30 last night. There is an estimated control time of 8:00 pm, and no structures were lost.

The Overlook Fire, near the Hagerman Fossil Beds overlook, was contained last night at 6:30 p.m. This fire was mapped at 125 acres, and no structures were threatened.  There is an estimated control time of 10:00 a.m.

The Fossil Fire, about a half mile beyond the Hagerman Fossil Beds overlook and the Overlook Fire, was contained last night at 10:30. This fire was mapped at 17.5 acres and no structures were threatened. Estimated control for this fire is 10:00 a.m.

The West Fossil Fire, about 200 yards past the Fossil Fire, was contained at 8:00 p.m., and controlled at 8:30 p.m. There were no structures threatened and the fire was mapped at 1.5 acres.

The Fossil 2 Fire, near the Fossil Fire, was contained at 11:00 p.m. and has an estimated control time of 10:00 am. No structures were threatened, and the fire was mapped at 25 acres.

Crews were able to keep the fires from the Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument and steps were taken to protect the Oregon Trail. The cause of these fires is under investigation.
