Bayonetta Creator Hates Changes Made to Sequel’s Box Art

Platinum Games

The director of Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry, Okami, Viewtiful Joe and The Wonderful 101 has voiced his disapproval of the changes made to the original design of Bayonetta 2’s box art.

Kotaku reports that Hideki Kamiya has tweeted how much he hates the Wii U logo and changes made to the box art of Bayonetta 2. He even went to post a picture comparing the two different Xbox 360 box arts of the first title to the cover of the Wii U sequel. Kamiya also tweeted another message in Japanese, which translates to: “The Bayo 2 package is sh-t. Who’s the damned b-stard who changed it…”

Kamiya mentioned that the box art was changed without his permission. He explains that the crescent moon in the background (which is a part of the actual logo for the sequel that you can see on the cover), was changed to a full moon to be similar to the Xbox 360 cover of the original game.

Also, the “2” in the title was changed to the color red to make it look similar to the text in the upper right corner that advertises the inclusion of the original game. If the entire cover was done with just all-blue text and without the logo in the corner, everything would look much better. While the original design looks like Bayonetta is soaring in the nighttime sky, this new one looks like she’s ready to land on the moon for no reason.

Regardless of what you think of the new box art, Bayonetta 2 will launch this October exclusively on Wii U.
