Battlefield Hardline’s Story Has You Playing a Framed Cop Going Undercover

Be ready for buddy cops, drug dealing, going undercover and being framed, because Visceral Games has gone to great lengths for the single-player story mode of Battlefield Hardline.

Polygon reports that Wendy Calhoun, the writer and producer of ‘Nashville,’ ‘Justified’ and other law-related TV shows, has helped Visceral Games as a narrative consultant for Battlefield Hardline’s story. Bill Johnson, who edited the stories and scripts for ‘Justified’ and ‘The West Wing,’ will be the game’s performance director. Battlefield Hardline starts off with the traditional buddy cop trope, but things will horribly wrong. Your character will end up being framed for a drug crime and forced to go underground to clear his name. When the cop goes underground, we get to explore much of the robbers’ aspect to the story. There will be cocaine warehouses, meth labs, and all sorts of cartel-filled environments.

“We start off with the narrative of two cops who are good cops, and one really wants to prove himself,” Calhoun said at Comic-Con. “Eventually the tables turn on them, and they are set up by another group and become criminals themselves. They’ve got to fight their way out of prison, and turn the tables on the people who put them there.”

Battlefield Hardline’s cast includes Eugene Byrd from ‘Bones,’ Kelly Hu from ‘Nash Bridges,’ Benito Martinez from ‘Sons of Anarchy’ and Mark Rolston from ‘The Shield.’

Battlefield Hardline has been delayed to an early 2015 release for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One.

Hopefully this delay means Battlefield Hardline will get its gun noises right, like we did in this 5×5 video for Best Call of Duty Gun Sound Effects.
