Bandai Namco is planning on utilizing Nintendo's amiibo toys, meaning that this line of figures is getting support from third-party publishers.

Polygon reports that Bandai Namco's One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X will be supporting the use of Nintendo's amiibo figures. The latest issue of the manga-filled Shonen Jump magazine features an ad that shows the characters of 'One Piece' wearing Nintendo-themed costumes that can be unlocked in Super Grand Battle! X by scanning in amiibo figures for the game. That's right, you get Zoro dressed as Link, Sanji as Fox McCloud, and Luffy donning the duds of Mario and Luigi.

One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X, which launched in Japan on Nov. 13, 2014 marks one of the first third-party games to openly support amiibo functionality. Other games that support the figures are mainly straight from Nintendo, including Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors, Mario Party 10 and Super Smash Bros.

While One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X has not been confirmed for a western release, many other Nintendo 3DS 'One Piece' titles have done so in the past.
