CALDWELL, Idaho (KLIX) Idaho State Police say a baby in a car seat survived being thrown out of a car during a crash on Friday near Caldwell.

Idaho State Police say the three-year-old boy was secure in the child seat, but it was not strapped down to the car. Police say the mother, Jessica Smitth, 33, of Boise, did not survive the crash on Interstate 84. ISP says the crash happened just after 10 a.m. as Timothy Ficarro, 38, of Meridian, was driving a Chevy Malibu when the tie blew and veered off the shoulder.

The car overturned throwing Ficarro, Smith, and the baby out. The two adults did not have their seat belts on. The child and Ficarro were taken to an area hospital. Part of the interstate was blocked for more than two hours.
