Still No Resolution In Downtown Twin Falls Parking Issue

The Twin Falls City Council was still unable to reach a consensus on a permanent solution to the downtown parking issue yesterday.  With councilman Trip Craig absent the council voted 3 to 3 on an amended proposal to discontinue using parking meters in the downtown area and stop leasing private parking spaces and turn them all into public spaces.

Best In Class: Two Magic Valley High Schools Awarded Grants

Eight Idaho schools have won $100,000 grants from the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation in an effort to increase the number of kids who attend college or other post-secondary training.

The schools were chosen out of 55 after competing in several categories, including increasing the number of  students taking college preparatory exams and upper-level math and science coursework

Twin Falls Woman Is Latest Catalyst For Owyhee Sheriff Woes

The Owyhee County sheriff, who has been under pressure to resign, is the target of new complaints. County commissioners have asked for Sheriff Daryl Crandall to resign on more than one occasion. Now, 22-year-old Jewel Hance of Marsing is one of the latest people to file a complaint.  Hance is staying at her mother’s home in Twin Falls because she’s too afraid to enter Owyhee County after she says she was mistreated and threatened inside the Owyhee County Jail. Hance recently filed a two-page complaint asking for an investigation into actions by Crandall and the sheriff’s office.
