About a month ago, news broke that Marvel had big plans for Hulk, and that they might be sending him to outer space at the end of 'The Avengers 2' in anticipation of a 'Planet Hulk'-style movie. Alas, those rumors have been debunked today.
When we last left Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus,' the film had grossed a weak $126 million domestically but a slightly more promising $400 million worldwide. Those numbers didn't suggest that a sequel was going to be coming any time soon, while writer Damon Lindelof announced he wouldn't be involved with the follow up, which suggested that a sequel was never going to happen. But there's hope for a sequel yet as star Noomi Rapace has reported that the script is being worked on right now.
When Megan Fox left 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon,' it seemed that her relationship with director Michael Bay (who she jokingly refered to as Hitler) was over and the two would never work together again. But now Bay has announced that Fox is joining his 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' reboot.
We're at an interesting crossroads for the new wave of young adult literature being adapted for the big screen. Sure, films like 'Twilight' or 'The Hunger Games' have shown that there is a sizable audience for these films, but yesterday's poor opening day showing of 'Beautiful Creatures' suggests that it takes more than just a series of modestly popular books to net a big screen audience. Perhaps author Stephenie Meyer will be enough to get people into the adaptation of her book 'The Host' and here's a new featurette with the author talking about the film.
We're not going to say he's biased, but in all evidence John McClane (Bruce Willis) does not play well with helicopters. And in the latest clip for 'A Good Day to Die Hard,' it seems the helicopters are about to get their revenge.
After the runaway success of 'The Lorax,' it's no surprise we're going to get more Dr. Seuss-derived animated movies. Next on dock from the makers of 'Lorax' and 'Horton Hears a Who' is 'The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.'
Shooting has just started on 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2,' one of 2014's biggest movies, and Sony has confirmed that Paul Giamatti has joined the cast (as Rhino) along with Colm Feore, and teased what the film is about.
At the end of the first 'Captain America,' Steve Rogers was awoken in a modern world, meaning his date with Peggy Carter had long since passed its expiration date. Well, our Cap is still a red blooded America male, and Peggy is an elderly woman, so it's good to know that the sequel 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' gives him a new love interest. And word is that role is going to Emily VanCamp.
Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury showing up at the end of a Marvel movie to recruit an Avenger happened so often it became an all too familiar joke. But now that 'The Avengers' are assembled, how will the next set of Marvel films lead into future sagas? If rumors are true, Marvel is planning to use Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark in the Fury role at the end of 'Iron Man 3.'
If you're Marvel Studios, you've got a reason to feel a little cocky. Their film 'The Avengers' was 2012's biggest hit by a wide margin, and they've already set up a game plan of films that stretch into 2015. Most of those are sequels, but they have a deep body of characters to draw from, and -- as rumored -- one of the next characters to transition to the big screen will be Doctor Strange.
The massive achievement that is HBO's 'The Wire' is such that even supporting players left a lasting impression on pop culture. Robert Chew, who played Prop Joe, had one of the juiciest roles (in a show chocked full of them) as a pragmatic drug lord known for his negotiating skills. Sadly, Chew passed away last night at the age of 52.
'Stoker,' the first English-language film by Korean director Park Chan-wook, will debut this weekend at the Sundance Film festival, and will be going out to theaters on March 1. But until then, here's a clip from the film in which Nicole Kidman talks about how she really feels about her own daughter.
