Thomas Rhett had a surprise for his crowd in Iowa City, Iowa, on Saturday night (Aug. 27): Ashton Kutcher. The actor (and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, native) joined the country star onstage for a rendition of Garth Brooks' "Friends in Low Places."

Rhett introduced Kutcher mid-song, before the tune's famed third verse, which isn't part of the studio version of "Friends in Low Places" but is always sung live.

"Y'all think Ashton Kutcher knows the words to the third verse?" Rhett asked the crowd, later adding, "He ain't gonna mess up, but if he does, y'all got him covered, correct?"

After a brief bit of help from Rhett at the start, Kutcher gamely took the lead on the rest of the verse and the final chorus -- that is, until Rhett handed him a beer. Then, the crowd had to take over.

“Do the Hawkeyes got my back on this one?!” Kutcher yelled before beginning. “One verse, one time, Iowa style.”

Rhett was performing at Iowa City's Kinnick Stadium as part of the Back Porch Revival, the first concert to ever be held at the stadium. The show also featured Blake Shelton, Big & Rich and Tucker Beathard, among others, and benefited the Native Fund, a non-profit organization founded by Kutcher and former NFL football player Dallas Clark and with the mission of "Iowans helping Iowans."
