BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Authorities say they have finally figured out who raped and killed a Boise woman 15 years ago. Boise police announced the arrest Wednesday of Patrick Jon Zacharias in the 1988 slaying of Kay Lynn Jackson.

Zacharias is currently an inmate at the Idaho Correctional Center south of Boise. Detectives say he became a suspect in the murder because of DNA testing. Prosecutors say he has been charged with first-degree murder and rape for his role in Jackson's death. Jackson was 22 years-old at the time of her death.

She had left her job at a downtown Boise motel and was walking to church on Palm Sunday when she was raped and killed in a tunnel under a bridge along the Boise River.
