GOODING, Idaho (AP) — Police in south-central Idaho say one of two suspects in the stabbing death of a 24-year-old man in Gooding has been arrested in Salt Lake City. Gooding Police Chief Jeff Perry says Hugo Mendez Gutierrez was arrested in Utah on Monday and will have to go through a formal extradition process and he doesn't know when he will be returned to Idaho.

Perry says officers believe the second suspect also has left the state. He says both suspects' names will likely be released Tuesday. The two men were being sought after Alejandro Perez Lopez was dropped off at North Canyon Medical Center at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday by two men in a black pickup. Surveillance video in the area helped officers identify the men.
