The Kansas City Chiefs are off to a 9-0 start this season, but they have been far from convincing in a number of their victories. Are the Chiefs legitimate contenders for the Super Bowl this season?

Led by a fierce defense, the Chiefs are number one in the NFL with 12.3 points per game allowed. They are the first team to allow fewer than 17 points in each of their first nine games since the 1977 Atlanta Falcons.

However, their offense is not strong. In Sunday's win over the Buffalo Bills, the Chiefs didn't score an offensive touchdown. Without two defensive scores allowed by Jeff Tuel and the Bills, the Chiefs would probably not have an undefeated record right now.

It is nearly a guarantee that Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Andrew Luck will be competing with the Chiefs in the playoffs, further damaging the Chiefs' chances at a championship.
