Americans Will Give $4.7 Billion Worth of Graduation Gifts
I guess we feel like giving someone $100 to Applebee's will soften the blow of $200,000 in student loan debt?
According to Time and the National Retail Federation, Americans will spend more than $4.7 BILLION on graduation gifts this month and next month.
More than one out of three people say they'll be giving a graduation gift this year . . . that's the highest since before the recession. The average person will spend $99.94 on a gift.
Cash is the most common graduation gift, at 58% . . . gift cards are second, at 40%. Nothing else is even close.
For what it's worth, student loan debt in the U.S. hit the TRILLION DOLLAR mark this year . . . we now have more student loan debt than credit card debt or car loan debt.
