Alan Jackson’s mother-in-law, Nell Brown Jackson, has died. According to the obituary, the 94-year-old Georgia native "peacefully met her savior" on Friday morning (April 3).

Nell Brown Jackson was the singer’s wife’s mother and the grandmother of his three daughters, Dani, Mattie and Alexandra. Details about the cause of death were not revealed in a statement from Jackson’s record label.

“Her life was a simple love story for her God, her family, her church and her friends,” the statement reads, echoing words penned for her obituary. “She was happiest when she was with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.”

Mrs. Jackson was born in Madras, Ga. and was a musician around her part of Georgia. Her obituary recalls the years she spent singing at Melear’s Restaurant in the 1950s and ‘60s, and well as at ceremonial events. She leaves behind three children, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Husband William Daniel Jackson preceded her in death.

The family asks that any memorial gifts be made to the Unity Batist Church in Newnan, Ga. or Emory Chapel United Methodist Church in Newnan.

Jackson was enjoying a break from the road at the time of his mother-in-law’s death. The singer is currently on the Keepin’ It Country tour, with stops planned for Wilmington, N.C. on April 9 and Nashville on April 11. Services for Nell Jackson will take place in Newnan, Ga. on Tuesday (April 7).
