7,000 Marijuana Plants in Boise National Forest, Man Arrested

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A Mexican man has been convicted of growing 7,000 marijuana plants in two locations on the Boise National Forest.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Boise says a federal jury on Tuesday convicted 28-year-old Juan Pablo Villasenor of two counts of manufacturing more than 1,000 marijuana plants.

The jury also convicted Villasenor on one count of possession with intent to distribute more than 100 kilograms of a controlled substance, one count of operating a continuing criminal enterprise, and one count of causing more than $1,000 in damage to public lands.

Villasenor faces up to life in prison for each count of manufacturing more than 1,000 marijuana plants with intent to distribute.

He's scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 4.
