On August 14, 2014, at 9:35 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a three vehicle crash on Interstate 84 at milepost 192, near the Hazelton exit.

Francisco Gil-Gil, 36, of Paul, was driving eastbound in a 2013 Volvo semi pulling an empty milk tanker. Gil-Gil's vehicle clipped a 2007 GMC pickup pulling a horse trailer that was slowing for traffic, driven by Alberto Zazueta, 45, of Jerome. The pickup jack-knifed, the trailer separated, and collided with a 2014 Freightliner pulling two trailers driven by Robert Watts, 53, of Tooele, Utah, that was stopped in eastbound traffic due to a detour in place from an earlier crash.

It is unknown at this time if occupants were wearing seatbelts. The road was reduced to one lane for approximately five hours while crews worked to clear the scene.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
